I seem to remember this design as one published in one of the Hi-Fi mags from the distant past.

Working from memory I believe it was a 5 way transmission line design using B139A for bass, B110A for midrange, a pair of Celestion HF1300 mounted on a sub-baffle for tweeters, T27 for supertweeter and STC/Coles 4001G for the benefit of the local bat population. The only thing missing seems to be a fork-lift truck.

Perhaps someone has a copy of the original article and can offer more details (or shoot me down for having a poor memory). I'd love a copy of the crossover schematic.

I've got two pairs Very Happy of Atkinson SOTAs, Hi-fi News and Record Review April 1976 Volume 21 Number 4, which also contains the review of the Quad 405 amplifier.

Malcolm Jones of Falcon should be able to supply a "builders" photocopy for ~0.60p plus postage.

It seems that my listing of drive units was not quite accurate. The 4001G was in fact a 4001K, which is the 8 ohm version. The two HF1300 units are 15 ohm wired in parallel, btw.

Thanks to ColinR for supplying the additional information.
