I am intrigued by the bass loading technique used on the Griffin Studio Electronic 85. I can only assume that the internal B200 is to acoustically add mass to the B139?
Will have to take a closer look to try and ascertain what is going on. |

I acquired some 25`s lately - but was surprised to find (except of a botched crossover) nothing that should resemble the original units -
Would you have any information into what units of younger age could fit in and
perhaps have had experience in building up a new crossover? |

I remember the chap too...and eventually after his "golden ear" had tweaked the crossover design, his firm become the official KEF distributor and they placed an order for 105/3S and 103/4S versions - the product names given to these "special versions - and they had to be in walnut veneer and with brown grilles (rather than the standard black ones). _________________ regards

I have got hold of a Griffin G200 amp with a burnt transformer -
Could anyone point me towards the specs of the unit ?

After I had some issues getting the right speakers for my supposably Griffin 25 cabinets (the bass was all gone and the tweeter an Audax of miniature size)
I was lucky getting some Coles 4001, but I struggle with a the Seas 21 ?
Any information which exact model it could be would be great -
or was it a Kef B200 now ????? |

Well, I have purchased the same but for the Seas which had been extracted for some cheap rubbish .
The tweeter was indeed double sided sticky pad taped to the `plank`and an 5cm square AUDAX unit -
So my question would be are they genuine?
If yes would a Seas 21 TV EW plus some Coles 4001 do the job ????

I recently tried to revive the Griffin Cabinets with SEAS 21" TV EW and Seas H087 but the new crossover I created didn`t work at all .
Any suggestions for a 6dB crossover?
The Griffin G 200 is back from repairs and performs extremely well!
A new transformer, 4 new output transistors and a cap replaced and it plays
clear, gutsy and I guess after some burning in as smoothly as my Valve amp .
Now it fills my Calindas with sheer happiness

Don't do it. Knowing what I know, having tackled every aspect of speaker design during my years at KEF, I would not attempt to design a crossover at home without the ability to make acoustic and electrical measurements of amplitude and phase. |
