Can anyone provide me with feedback about the C-80? I have been offered a pair but I do not know much about them and I have not been able to find a good review of these speakers.

Grab them if you can also get a pair of R1548X tweeters (or some other suitable replacement) within your overall budget as the original T33mkII's are probably going off (hence the offer to yourself), due to the original Ferrofluid solidifying.

The C80's are a classical warm sounding British speaker, they're not too accurate, sounding a little bit chesty and some box coloration is clearly evident, the results of which tend to making poor recordings sound a little better Smile

This what you'd expect from a KEF design from the 80's in comparison to either the American West or East Coast Sound of the time.

I followed your advise and I bought them. I will pick them up next Monday. Do you know where can I order the replacements for the tweeters? Can you also please give an idea how much they will cost?

Then, as 1548X is the treble unit out of a Uni-Q unit, you'll have to play with some silicone sealant to fix it to the rear of the T33mkII faceplate.

Hi,

Do Kef USA have a lot of KEF replacement drivers ?

I live in the UK and here parts are spare, no good if you want keep it as close to the original item as possible.

Do all ferro-fluid cooled tweeters suffer with this problem?

As far as I'm aware yes, for ferrofluid is a sol; a runny jelly or jello like material, which equates to a fine dispersion or suspension in a fluid matrix.

Overtime the fluidity will be lost and a wax like substance will be formed.

The time scale for those into ePay, is around fifteen to twenty five years, depending upon the local environment in which the speakers are used.
