anyone knows the volume of the Bass Cabinet of the 105.2.. I could measure the external volume, but internal volume gets tricky due to bracing and other stuff inside ?..

BTW... I am planning to make a new slim type tower cabinet, mount the woofers on the side, Mids and tweets in front to make the footprint smaller. anyone knows the effect of mounting the woofer on the side ? btw.. you might ask why ?.....moved house.. smaller room...and I dont want to get rid of it .. Twisted Evil

1 cubic in = 16.3871 cubic cm , 1 litre = 1000 cubic cm

69825 cubic cm = 4620.9735 cubic in Shocked

AAAHHHH, please don't destroy the original speaker design, also you could destroy the sound of the speakers.

I disagree. There's a lot of room for improvement in the 105.2. The cabinetry is ridiculous. The bass section is like a giant tom tom...no internal bracing. Knock on the wood right below the woofer and you'll see what I'm talking about. Also, the pod is made of plastic and is not anchored very well. I am sure that vibrations from the bass are shaking the mid/hi module during playback. The screens aren't helping anything either, though I would suggest leaving some protection over the T52. And finally, the wheels? Please! How about some spikes?

Let us know how they sound with the new cabinets, mate.

The 105|2 woofer cab had the B300 mounted to it via 3 rubber KEFMOUNTs. They prevented mechanical coupling of the speaker vibration to the cabinet, thus saving on bracing and keeping the cabinet cost down.

It worked well and was also used in the Model 103|2 and 102.

If you want belt and braces, go ahead and brace as well. I don't think you'll hear any difference though.

105 and 105|2 cabinet internal volume were ~70 litres.

KEF 105.2 dimensions

Thanks for the insight of the internal dimensions. I am rebuilding a KEF base cabinet using MDF (now in Singapore).

The external dimensions are top 330mm Base 415mm height 600mm.

The sloped front panel needs some consideration in preparing the panel.

What is the woofer cone center with respect to the top and size edges? I suppose the woofer needs to be as closed to the top edge as possible ( and close to the B110 mid range).

The woofer was as close to the top of the bass cabinet as could be manufactured reliably without leaks.
