Yes, as well as the other side of the PCB where the burning is more obvious.
The scorching can be a lot worse than this.
Rather safe than sorry, if I was in your shoes I'd be checking both crossovers. You do not have to be an electronics expert to spot the more obvious damage visually. Rather safe than sorry, I'm not trying to put the fear of god into you, just remarking on what I would do..
Your crossover will be a lot less complex than this one. _________________ I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a

Here's the rear view.
Thanks for the advice, I'll take a look tomorrow.
I guess if anything else has blown the speakers are scrap, to expensive to repair, may as well purchase new speakers?

NOOOOOOOOO! The crossovers are in the main easy peasy!
If the other drivers are ok then yes, RIP unless you can find some on ePrey!
Apologies if I am giving you panic attacks, that is not intentional.
If the Hi-Fi gods are with you it will just be the tweeter. _________________ I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a

I truly hope the "HiFi Gods" are smiling on me, I'm going to miss my old Q50's if they are scrap. Fingers crossed ...
Edit.
Where are the crossovers? Remove drivers or binding post plate? |

I think the Q series have them there indeed, good bet!

Well I've not heard back from the guy on the South African forum or from a guy in America who I found on eBay.
However, I contacted KEF over a week ago, thought they'd ignored me due to the age of my speakers. But, no. The "HiFi Gods" were on side today and I got a reply from Andy Gough, KEF UK Service Manager. They can supply a replacement, its not identical, metal dome instead of fabric and performance should be better(does that mean they will sound different?).
Here's a phone screen shot of the message. Proffski, what do you think, should I buy these new updated tweeters or hold out for second hand originals?

Wow, go for it! It will sound different, so now you will have to pay for two!
Expensive party... But we'll done KEF! _________________ I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a

Yes, a huge thank you to KEF, though I would be scrapping my beloved Q50's. Andy Gough is now up there among the "HiFi Gods" as far as I'm concerned.
I'll get them ordered and post back once I've checked everything and fitted the new ones.
Thanks for your help Proffski ... |

Fingers crossed, please keep reporting back.
Make sure you wire them in phase. _________________ I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a

Positive to Positive, Negative to Negative? |

Exactly as the original, there are caveats!!! _________________ I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a

For a moment there I thought I was going to have phase problems similar to what I experienced with my two KEF 30B's, that drove me silly, had no idea what Phase was until i purchased a second sub. They're great for movies ... |

This could get confusing.
I am assuming that the colour coding on the new tweeters will be the same as old. Let us leave it at that for a while till you get delivery.
Congratulations on sourcing the new tweeters, if you follow the forums some people have not been so lucky. KEF must have taken a liking to you or you used your charm or both. _________________ I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a

I've spent all my life in the construction industry, started off as a Steel Erector, eventually a Self Employed Builder with a side line as a weekend bouncer for 8 years. One thing I lack is charm ..
Perhaps it was a phone call from an ageing audiophile blubbering down the phone that they felt some sympathy for, mixed in with a little luck. |

I removed the rear plate with the binding posts on and found what looks like the crossovers soldered directly to the rear?
There was no signs of damage that my untrained eye could see and all the drivers are working perfectly. So, as far as I can tell, good news. Just the tweeters to replace.
Right speaker with blown tweeter.
Left speaker.
