Today i have listened to a second hand set of Martin Logan vantage electrostatic speakers on my set and the Kef's stay! The bass output is mutch more balanced with the kef despite the gain control on the basspeaker of the ML. Ok, imaging was better with the ML, but not the overal sound. And the very small sweetspot was not what i had expected.
No, the Keffy's are staying, what a fine speakers

I tried to sell the Kef's 105.4 but at the end i didn't. Of course there where enough people who wanted them, but for the money they offered... i thought, never can buy these wonderful speakers again in this state and high level of finish and build quality as they are now.
So, i've made them even a little better now with velvet on the tweeter plates and round the B110's. Also i got some of the standard foam damping out of the hads and replaced it with 5 grams of twaron, a new revolutionary damping material from the Netherlands. Result is again better, pff, at this moment Shirley Horn is playing (here's to live) and i'm very, very pleased with the result.

I thought why also not damp the metal chassis strip of the B110, also less reflection there, for another sonic improvement... i hope. I have used velvet for this purpose. Not a big chance, but it helps a little bit. |
